On March 29, the Department of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (Ministry of Science and Technology) coordinated with the Hanoi People's Committee to organize the Conference on State Management of Intellectual Property in 2023. This is an annual event to summarize activities in the field of intellectual property (IP) sector in the past year.

Speaking at the conference, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat assessed that "state management activities on intellectual property in 2023 have achieved many remarkable results. One of the highlights is that the number of applications to register processed industrial property rights (including inventions, utility solutions, trademarks and etc.) has improved, increasing by 13.2% compared to the previous year 2022”. In particular, the results of processing patent applications and trademarks increased by 7.6% and 14.4%, respectively.

Currently, the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam is still trying to find a way to overcome this situation. A key solution mentioned in the report is to increase the application of information technology in establishing industrial property rights, including completing projects to modernize information technology systems and online public service software and search software to serve the appraisal of industrial property applications; Rebuild industrial property database. In addition, the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam is also planning to recruit and find solutions to attract high-quality human resources.
